The Friskycrew first appeared in mid 2004, hosting their own parties. On their second party they were offered a set at Pacha London for Fused. The next few months saw the friskycrew playing at various bars & private parties around London.
By December after impressing at Metropolis bar, they had an offer of a guest slot on a popular London radio station, on condition of a demo mix CD. The friskycrew never did the guest slot but the station was so impressed they were given a weekly radio show.
A month later the boys were booked in to play at a weekly afterparty. After impressing, this led to a bi-weekly residency, sharing the decks with names such as Tony Nicholls, Monkey, James Jackson, G and a whole host of London’s top DJs.
Things really kicked off for the crew after agreeing to host a room for Clockwork Orange at Studio 33 (presently Hidden) in April 2005. Despite 3 rooms and only enough clubbers to fill one, the friskycrew managed to keep their room packed, and ended up playing a 5 hour set, closing to a standing ovation 2 hours after the official closing time!
Inevitably a residency at Studio 33 followed, and the bookings began to mount up. Presently the Friskycrew can be found tearing up dance floors across London’s hottest Clubs & Promotions. You’ll know who they are, because they’ll be dancing with you.
When we say these guys are the hottest act around, just remember that all of the above was achieved in a little over a year, and then judge for yourself!!
Playing Style
When it comes to different genres of house music, both have individual styles that fuse perfectly when playing together. Extremely flexible, the Friskycrew are happy playing a bar and then going down to play deep & dirty tech House at the hotter sweatier venues.
Although forging a reputation for playing rare and upfront music this is always eased with a healthy dose of familiarity to create an underground party sound that’s friendly enough even at more commercial venues. Drawing influences from all musical genres yet still staying true to house music, its little surprise that the boys are in demand when something ‘a little bit different ’ is needed to freshen up a clubnight.
